Highest is an experimental film exploring the fragmented inner worlds of modern individuals. Centering on the elevator as both narrative core and psychological metaphor, each opening and closing of its doors signifies the protagonist's leaps and transitions between distinct states of existence—from the anxiety of on-set creation, to the solitude of the editing room, the alienation of domestic routines, and ultimately the spiritual quest upon returning to the film set.
This film abandons traditional linear storytelling, constructing a surreal labyrinth of memory, creativity, and identity through this cyclical elevator journey. Sound here serves not merely as ambient atmosphere but is imbued with a narrative mission, becoming the sole thread connecting all fragments and guiding viewers deep into the protagonist's inner world.
Highest represents my deep exploration at the boundaries of audio storytelling. The project's final outcome far exceeded initial expectations, presenting a complete, self-contained, and captivating auditory universe. Audiences reported that even with their eyes closed, they could clearly “see” the story's narrative threads and the protagonist's emotional arc through sound alone.
This project allowed me to fully realize the creative concept of “sound as character.” From meticulously planning the initial recordings to transforming each sound element into a narrative symbol in post-production, I served as the sole point of responsibility for all audio aspects, ensuring the artistic vision remained consistently unified throughout. This work stands as a perfect embodiment of my comprehensive sound production capabilities and has strengthened my resolve to continue exploring the realm of experimental audiovisual art.
